On Saturday I picked my "new" (to me!) Felicity at AGPNY. She is one of the signed ones, but she will be on display at home with the other "original four", not in the box! I want to have my girls where I can hug them!
I was planning on selling my other first edition Felicity, as a way of (partly) paying off my new splurge.
But some things have changed... [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Last night, I got "new" Lissie out of the box and was ready to put her together with the other 4 when I discovered she has several flaws. So I bring "old" Lissie to the living room for comparison.
At this point DD (almost 9) picked up "old" Lissie and asked me what am I going to do with her. So I told her I was planning to sell her.
You have to understand that DD is NOT a manipulator or a brat of any kind. She is an extremely sweet and very "grown up" kind of girl. (no bias here!)
So, at that point she hugs "old" Lissie and tears strart rolling down her cheeks. She gives the doll to me and says "Good bye, Lissie"
So I asked her if she wanted to keep her as her own doll (she already has 9 AGs!) and she picks up Lissie again and hughs her as if there is no tommorrow, and between tears and smiles thanks me for her!!!
(I am having goose bumps out of writing this!)
Well... since that moment there has been a new entity in my house: a girl with a doll stuch to her! I have never seen DD so moved by a doll or so emotional for a "thing"
So, later in the evening, in her typical reflective way she comes over and says: "Mom, I do not know why I feel so much for just a doll. She is not just a toy. There is something more to her. I wanted to cry just to see her go, I could not think of how lonely she would be."
And this is feom a girl that sees fixer uppers coming and going al the time!
Oh my! Kids are the true teachers in life! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
